Need a roadworthy certificate fast? We come to your home or work across Beenleigh and the wider Logan area, or do it at our workshop, from the $102.70 Queensland set fee.
Roadworthy Certificate Or Safety Certificate - What Is The Difference?
When Queensland Law Says You Need A Safety Certificate
You need one when you transfer a registered light vehicle to a new owner, when you bring a vehicle onto Queensland registration from another state, and when you register a vehicle again after it has been off the road. Caravans and trailers between 750kg and 4.5t need one too, and so do motorbikes when they are sold.

What A Roadworthy Certificate Costs, And How Long It Lasts (No Surprises)
Here is the cost question, answered plainly. In Queensland the safety certificate inspection fee is set by the government, so it is the same wherever you go. For a car up to 4.5t, the fee is $102.70, as at 1 July 2026. A trailer over 750kg is set at $51.45, and a motorbike at $66.00 . If you want us to come to you, a mobile callout is added on top. That is the whole picture, with no padding.

Questions You May Ask Before Booking
How much does a safety certificate cost in Queensland?
The inspection fee is set by the Queensland Government at $102.70 for a light vehicle up to 4.5t, as at 1 July 2026. It is the same at every approved inspection station. If we come to you, a mobile callout is added. Any repairs needed to pass are quoted separately, so you decide before we start.
Do I need a roadworthy to sell my car?
Yes. To transfer a registered light vehicle to a private buyer in Queensland, you need a current safety certificate, which is the roadworthy. You no longer need it just to advertise the car. You do need it before you hand the vehicle over, and you give it to the new owner at the transfer. A few exemptions exist, such as a transfer between spouses, but for a standard private sale it is required.
How long is a safety certificate valid?
For a private sale it is valid for 2 months or 2,000 km, whichever comes first. For licensed dealers it is 3 months or 1,000 km. Time the inspection close to your sale, so it does not expire before the deal is done.
What happens if my car fails the inspection?
You receive a report listing the items to fix. In most cases you have around 14 days to repair them and return for a second check without a full new inspection. We can often do the repairs here and then issue the certificate, all in one place.
Can the inspection come to me?
Yes. Our mobile roadworthy service brings a licensed inspector to your home or work across Beenleigh, Eagleby, Yatala, and the wider Logan area. You pay the set $102.70 fee plus a mobile callout, and the paperwork is sorted on the spot.
What is the difference between a safety certificate and a certificate of inspection?
A safety certificate is for private light vehicles being sold, transferred, or registered again. A certificate of inspection, or COI, is for personalised transport, the taxis, Ubers and rideshare cars, and it is valid for 12 months. The comparison table above lays out both side by side.
